About Us

Proudly New Zealand owned & operated since 1993

Let us introduce ourselves and our story! our names are Andrea & Zeus Messenger, and our children are Abby & Cody. Our children are the third generation to soak up this wonderful back yard. We are experts on what to do in National Park and how to do it! Whether you have small children or teenagers, there is something to do here that will suit your adventure taste buds.

Plateau Lodge is fully owned and operated by Ruapehu locals. We believe National Park Village is the best place to visit on an escape from your own home or country. We are all about supporting the community and are involved in local Business Networks, Schooling Committees, Nature Programmes and numerous Charities all around that need help. We are also striving towards the challenge of being sustainable and working through to a Zero Carbon status. How exciting!

We are a family business and have been here since 1993. Plateau Lodge was a backpacker wing, and over the years we have moved the business into the modern age and now proudly have 24 rooms ranging from fully self-contained Modern Two-Bedroom Apartments, to King Studio Pods. The main Lodge is still here, now providing private lodge rooms which are connected to an open, communal lounge/kitchen area.
